It is an honor to step into the role of Head of School after more than a decade at Kingsley—a place that has become not only my professional home, but truly my heart. Over the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of growing alongside this community, and I feel both deep gratitude and great excitement as we look ahead to Kingsley’s next chapter.
Located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay, Kingsley is more than a school—it is the heartbeat of this vibrant neighborhood. Our classrooms extend beyond our walls, and the city itself becomes our campus.
Students engage with the world around them in meaningful ways, developing a sense of independence, curiosity, and connection that is both deeply personal and profoundly relevant.

What makes Kingsley truly special is our unwavering commitment to the whole child and the way we uniquely meet that commitment. Rooted in Montessori principles and guided by a belief that learning is a lifelong process, we cultivate not only strong academic thinkers, but thoughtful, self-aware, and compassionate human beings. While every school supports academic growth, what distinguishes Kingsley is our intentional focus on who children are becoming—as learners, as friends, as leaders, and as citizens of the world.
On any given day, you will find students immersed in meaningful work—asking questions, collaborating with peers, and taking ownership of their learning. Our classrooms are vibrant and joyful spaces where curiosity is nurtured, voices are valued, and belonging is felt. At Kingsley, each child is known, supported, and inspired to explore their fullest potential.
At the heart of this experience is community. Kingsley is a true partnership among students, families, and educators, grounded in trust, communication, and shared purpose. We don’t simply enroll students, we enroll families—and we deeply value the relationships that make this work meaningful and impactful.
Looking to the future, I am energized by the opportunity to continue strengthening Kingsley’s Montessori-informed approach, nurturing a vibrant and joyful school culture, and ensuring that every child leaves Kingsley with the confidence, curiosity, and compassion to thrive in an ever-changing world.
I invite you to learn more about Kingsley, visit our campus, and experience firsthand the warmth, energy, and care that define our community. We would be delighted to welcome you.
With gratitude,

Tara Hofherr
