Social Emotional Curriculum
Kingsley’s Social Emotional curriculum develops students’ skills progressively over time, using a combination of Montessori philosophy and high-quality programs like We Thinkers! (ages 4–6) and ThinkGive (ages 7–12). Children begin in the Toddler program by learning the Montessori principles of grace and courtesy through daily routines, teacher modeling, and peaceful peer interactions. As they grow, students strengthen their communication and relationship skills by practicing active listening, respectful language, empathy, collaboration, and self-advocacy.

Cultural awareness and diverse perspectives are woven throughout the curriculum in stories, shared traditions, and inclusive classroom materials. Elementary students take on increasing responsibility as leaders, collaborators, and community members, developing the confidence to express themselves thoughtfully, resolve conflicts respectfully, and advocate for their needs. By the completion of the program, students are equipped with a lifelong toolkit of skills that support academic success, meaningful relationships, and a deep love of learning.

Student Support
Kingsley provides individualized academic and social-emotional support to help each student thrive. Students with demonstrated needs meet regularly with learning specialists in one-on-one and small-group settings to support literacy, math, study skills, and executive functioning through personalized goals and targeted instruction. Using Montessori materials alongside evidence-based programs and diagnostic assessments, teachers tailor learning experiences to strengthen reading, writing, and math skills while ensuring students are both supported and appropriately challenged.
Standardized Assessments
We believe in the importance of familiarizing our students with formal test-taking. To that end, Kingsley administers standardized testing each spring in the form of the Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP), developed by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). Tests are administered to students in Grades 3 through 6. The data provide valuable insight into each student’s academic development and help prepare students for future standardized testing experiences, including the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), which is part of the application process for next schools. Most importantly, standardized test results help Kingsley continuously evaluate and strengthen our curriculum.
