At Kingsley, there is an increased emphasis on intellectual development as the students prepare to enter the rigorous Upper Elementary program.
The Lower Elementary classroom operates on a three‐year cycle. Students from First through Third grade work together in the classroom, each following an individualized educational program determined by collaborative work between parents, teachers, and students.

Learning Through Exploration
The Elementary program follows Dr. Montessori’s principle of “materialized abstraction,” introducing concepts through hands-on materials before progressing to abstract thinking.
Lessons follow a spiraling curriculum, revisiting key concepts each year with increasing depth and complexity while connecting learning to broader ideas and real-world context.
Classrooms are thoughtfully prepared with engaging Montessori materials that encourage exploration, independence, and active learning.
Building Independence
The daily schedule balances whole-group instruction with extended independent work periods, during which students receive small-group lessons and choose work across subject areas.
Teachers closely guide and monitor student progress to support growth and ensure balanced development across the curriculum.
Co-curricular programs, including Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and Science, are integrated with classroom learning to create meaningful interdisciplinary connections.
Students use Learning Journals to plan and manage their weekly work, helping them build responsibility, organization, and independence. The journals also encourage goal setting and allow students to explore topics of personal interest.
