BOSTON PRIVATE SCHOOL ADVANTAGE
Kingsley capitalizes on back bay location
Boston's Back Bay is central to many wonderful learning assets, historical buildings and monuments, and beautiful outdoor spaces. Boston is home to a number of outstanding educational institutions, from preschool through post-graduate. Kingsley Montessori School's rich history, strong traditions, and unique mixture of cutting edge programming and timeless Montessori principles set it apart from the crowd.
Kingsley Montessori School is housed in two buildings in the heart of Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, between Commonwealth Ave and Newbury Street. Kingsley utilizes the history, geography, and resources of the area to provide a unique, well-rounded educational experience for its students (ages two through twelve).
The Fairfield Street building, originally constructed as a private home, has a long history as an educational institution. Beginning in 1954, it housed a preparatory high school, and starting in the 1970s it housed the early childhood school that would later grow to become Kingsley Montessori School. The Exeter Street building has a storied past ranging from its initial use as a Spiritualist temple, to the well-known Exeter Street Theater, and even a stint as a bookstore, before becoming part of Kingsley's growing campus.
Steps from Boston Public Library, the Charles River Esplanade, Boston Common and Public Gardens, Kingsley makes the most of its central Boston locale by connecting with the community and encouraging our students to use their local resources to the fullest–whether that means calculating the heights of the trees on the Commonwealth Ave Mall just outside, exploring the rich history of Boston–apparent in the architecture and sculpture of the area, or venturing into the archives of the Boston Public Library to do research for a Sixth Grade Senior Project!
Commute by car or public transportation
Parents living or working in the area enjoy the ease and accessibility of the school, and the safety and history of the Back Bay neighborhood. Steps from the MBTA Green Line, and blocks from Commuter Rail service, Kingsley's locations on Exeter Street and Fairfield Street are easily reached from points within and outside of the city. Many families walk, bike, or ride their scooters to school (scooter parking available in the lobby), while others prefer to drop-off and pick-up (or carpool) in their vehicles. Located only steps from Newbury Street and Commonwealth Ave, with a dedicated Welcome and Dismissal Crew, pick-up and drop-off by car is easy and safe as well.
Boston's only Montessori Kindergarten Entry Program
Kingsley is home to Boston's only Montessori Kindergarten Entry Program. The Kindergarten Entry Program (KEP) is developed specifically for children who are entering the Montessori classroom for the first time at age four or five. This entry point is perfect for families who are looking for a Montessori option for elementary school, but are worried about the transition from a traditional daycare or preschool environment. KEP is either a two- or a one-year program, which children can enter at either four or five years old.
