Kingsley encourages children to grow into concerned, caring, participating
citizens. We reach far beyond our own community, working together
to impact the world for good.
At Kingsley, we value the contributions of our immediate and global
communities. We use the city as an extension of our classrooms,
enjoying field day on the Charles River Esplanade and learning much
from our neighbors. In turn, we actively seek opportunities to give
back to our neighborhood, the city of Boston and people throughout
the world. Our Community Service program teaches students the value
of helping others and allows them to experience the personal empowerment
and satisfaction that comes with making a difference in the world.
Throughout the year, as part of our Intergenerational Program,
students visit an elder care community in Boston. Our Upper Elementary
students organize a monthly Pizza Day to raise money for the United
Way. They also plan, organize and host events throughout the year
for their younger friends and families for their annual donation
to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The entire Elementary Program participates in an annual Earth Day
event in greater Boston, joining with residents, businesses, organizations
and other schools to clean up our shared environment. Individual
classrooms also participate in community service initiatives throughout
the school year. These projects have included raising funds to build
a sister school in Ladakh, India; recycling; collecting coats and
blankets for homeless shelters; hosting fundraisers to support water
purification programs around the world; collecting books for children
of natural disasters; and supporting the work of local charities.
