Restoration of Fairfield
With your support, we will enhance the courtyard space to improve the outdoor experience and connection with nature for our students and restore the Early Childhood building’s structure and fixtures to improve energy efficiencies.
What we envision for the outdoor courtyard space is an extension of our students’ learning, where they can engage with nature and science in meaningful ways, benefitting from the creativity and freedom that outdoor play inspires.
Originally a four-story brick townhouse called the Saltonstall Mansion, the building at 30 Fairfield Street has served preschool children and their families from as early as the 1930s. In 1987, with the merger of the Kingsley School and Back Bay Montessori, the location has evolved into the Kingsley Montessori School of today.
Over the years, the building has received updates periodically as Kingsley’s primary physical asset. It now requires renovations to modernize the physical facilities in order to improve energy efficiencies and preserve this important historic landmark.
- Refurbishment of the outdoor courtyard, which will extend student learning and enhance the outdoor experience through more science
- Installation of energy efficient, modern windows
- New roof installed
- Renovation of bathroom facilities with new fixtures
- Projected cost: $1 million
