Get involved! Each year KMPTA strives to maintain an open dialogue
within our community of parents, teachers and school administration.
All parents are members of KMPTA and are invited to participate
in all association events and meetings.
Please see the all school
calendar to become aware of KMPTA meeting dates. In
general, the parent/teacher association meets every third Wednesday
of the month, in addition to committee meetings. We look forward
to engaging with parents at these meetings to further support
the needs of our school community.
A favorite venue for our Kindergarten and Elementary students,
KMPTA sponsors Friday night events for kids that are theme-centered
with activities and games. Parents are asked to accompany their
children and join in on the fun. These evenings are sponsored
by the KMPTA fundraisers and parent association fee. Last year
we held an autumn arts & crafts evening and a winter game
night. Do you have any ideas for this year’s program?
A
new KMPTA event!
Our preschoolers can’t stay up for the same Friday night
activities, but this year they won’t be left out. We plan
to organize a junior version of Kid’s Club just for them.
How do arts & crafts afternoons, or ice cream and movies at
school sound? Look for more details as the school year progresses.
A
new KMPTA event!
Due to a busy fall calendar, the KMPTA sponsored Parents Night
Out has been postponed to winter. Join us instead for An Evening
With Shakespeare on November 13th.
This signature event for parents, teachers, school administrators
and friends, being held this year on March 10, is the
primary source of funding financial aid at Kingsley. We’re
especially excited about this year’s venue, Boston’s
shiny, new Institute of Contemporary Art. Book your sitter,
get dressed up and head down to the waterfront. It is an opportunity
to bring our community together for a fun and festive evening
serving an invaluable purpose.
You won’t be able to resist Kingsley’s first ever
yearbook, filled with photographs of our children, their teachers
and friends. We’ll document everything from Mother’s
Tea and Grand friend’s Day, to the Kindergarten Marathon
and the Winter Assembly. We will capture our young learners busy
at work in all their favorite places; the classroom, the science
lab, the art studio, just to name a few. Business and family ads
will offset the cost of production. The premier edition will make
its debut on Auction Night.
(fall sale plus on line sales throughout the year)
The giftwrap is thick and slick –– even your mother-in-law
will approve. Stock up for the holidays, and replenish birthday
stock throughout the year. KMPTA receives a whopping 50% of the
revenue.
(spring
2007)
During the year your child will have the opportunity to design
their own note card. Teachers oversee the effort, and we reap
the benefits. The cards make perfect gift enclosures or grandparent
presents. A percentage of the sales support KMPTA sponsored programs.
Each year the administration solicits donations from the Kingsley
community for its Annual Fund. Annual Funds are an integral part
of the independent school financial structure, supplementing tuition
for materials, faculty training and other items that enrich the
curriculum. KMPTA supports the school in their effort to raise
these additional funds by asking for parent volunteers on the
night of the Phonathon, and to encourage 100% participation among
the parent community.
This cocktail reception, organized by KMPTA, provides an open
forum to meet the Kingsley Board of Trustees and hear directly from
them about their vision for the school. It is amazing what you
can learn over wine and cheese.
Spend time in the library, either at Fairfield or at Exeter, assisting
Kingsley’s librarian in organizing, reshelving, story time
and more. There is always room for volunteers in support of our
expanding shelves of facts, fiction and resource materials.
The school organizes both a new and used book sale to help support
the preschool and elementary school libraries. The school asks
for KMPTA’s support in helping to organize the Book Fair
in the fall. In the spring, parents are asked to donate children’s
books for a Used Book Swap. Who wouldn’t delight in trading
an Arthur picture book for a Magic Tree House chapter book?
KMPTA plans a week full of Appreciation for our fabulous teachers
and staff. A Kingsley tradition is to have each child bring in
a flower to add to a vase for their teachers. This community bouquet
is the perfect way to show how much they are loved by everyone
in the class. There will be delicious breakfast treats and a special
lunch for the staff to share during the week as well.
This picnic at the Stoneman Playground on the Esplanade is a great
way to end the year. So whip up your no-fail potluck specialty
one last time before summer (or stop at Shaw’s on the way),
and join us in saying farewell to friends and teachers –
til September.
