At Kingsley, we believe in a community of learners where teaching
and learning are important values for all members of our community.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to assume leadership roles in
the school, and to engage in their own learning whenever possible.
Each year, as part of our ongoing professional development and
Parent Speaker Series, we bring locally and nationally known experts
and educators to the school to share their research and experience
on a wide variety of topics. We support professional development
by providing opportunities to attend conferences and workshops,
such as the American Montessori Society, Montessori Schools of
Massachusetts, Association of Independent Schools in New England
and the National Association of Independent Schools conferences.
Other professional development opportunities include peer collaboration
and in-service education. Faculty and staff are encouraged to
visit other schools and to share these experiences with their
colleagues.
Kingsley also provides curriculum development, technology, and
faculty enrichment grants. The School provides curriculum development
grants based on school-wide needs. Technology grants are awarded
to current faculty for individual classroom technology initiatives,
including equipment and training. The faculty enrichment grant
program is an annual grant that allows a faculty member to pursue
a course of personal or professional enrichment to bring back
to the classroom. Through this grant, Kingsley teachers and students
have been exposed to the wonders of India and Ireland. And in
2006, our most recent grant has planted the seed for a sister
school in Ladakh, India.
