Grades 1-6
Kingsley’s Elementary building is located at 26 Exeter Street,
at the corner of Newbury and Exeter Street in Back Bay, just one
block down Newbury Street from our Preschool building. The Exeter
Street campus, formerly the landmark Exeter Street Theatre, and
earlier, The First Spiritual Temple, is a grand, Romanesque-style
building designed in 1883 by William Richardson of Hartwell &
Richardson, Boston. As a theatre from 1914-1994, the building was
heralded for its character and unique ambiance. Our children understand
that we have been entrusted with responsibility for a glorious architectural
treasure.
Our Elementary building opened in September, 2005, providing a
dynamic school experience for students and teaching staff. The renovation
focused on the specific needs of Elementary students and includes
six large, sun-lit classrooms for students in grades one through
six. Each of the classrooms is fully equipped with curricular materials
and wireless technology. In addition the facility now includes music
and art studios, science and health laboratory, library and technology
center, community space, world language room, performance/presentation
space and academic support spaces. We have also designed a special
location for our after-school program, including enrichment classrooms.
The former theatre lends itself to an elementary environment with
its magnificent open space, large stained glass windows and high
ceilings.
Current enrollment at the Elementary building is 95 students. We
expect to grow to 125 students in the next few years.
The Development and Business Offices are located at the Exeter
Street building.
