Kingsley’s unique City Links Program expands the learning
environment beyond the walls of our classrooms. Our location in
the heart of Boston’s Back Bay puts all the resources of Boston
within ready grasp and enables us to enrich the learning experiences
for our students. From physical education and community service,
to lectures at local museums, our students’ sights encompass
Boston in full.
In addition to experiencing the city on a daily basis, our students
participate in gym/swim, school assemblies, science and art classes
and independent research at renowned institutions like the Boston
Public Library, Boston Museum of Fine Art, MIT and Museum of Science.
They enjoy playtime on Commonwealth Avenue Mall, and experience
living science on the embankment of the Charles River. Our unique
location allows faculty and students to experience impromptu learning
by moving outside of the building for experiences such as “bringing
their easels to the Commonwealth Mall for art,” or “collecting
condensation” from the leaves on the trees in our front garden
during science lab, or walking through our historic neighborhood
to identify geometric shapes in the environment for math class.
Our central location links our curriculum to the community.
The nearby MBTA takes us to the Peabody Museum at Harvard University
for further exploration of a classroom topic, and we can return
to school before lunch to share the fruits of our experience. One
of the other byproducts of City Links is that it introduces our
children to specialists, lecturers and researchers who continue
to make Boston an epicenter for learning and exploration.
